Wanaka, South Island, NZ

We finally arrived at Wanaka after a long day of driving (after 1030pm)… Starving, we picked up some pupus at a local bar, kitchen was about to close…

Next morning, we made a stop at a parking lot close by the famous #thatwanakatree

It was a crowded, lots of tourists for selfies in front of the tree, so did not bother to join…

At Sunset, got the opportunity to shoot…

Lonely in the cold…

Watch for those ducks, they know how to fly at you! :D

Next morning, I should go for sunrise…

Lake Matheson Walk...

Just before sunset, we arrived at the Lake Matheson Walk, so we could capture the reflection in the lake…

A couple of photographers left just before us, and the place became suddenly quiet…

The last lights of the day were bathing the mountains and the smooth/ slick water looked like a mirror…

Breathtaking view…

Some hdr processing…

Just so calm…

Before jumping in our rental

Franz Josef Glacier

On our way to Wanaka, we made a couple of stops… Franz Josef Glacier. Rain or shine (Mostly rain and cold), we were determined to head there to experience the walk to the Glacier!

Reviewing the directions and warnings before heading…

About 1h30 to 2 hours walk…

The bench facing the path to the Glacier… at this time, it started to pour on us, but it was still a go!

Carefully, we made our way…

HDR 5 exposures…

A pano view from the phone at the of the walk… where you cannot go further past the fence.

Mahalo!
