Welcome to Hokitika!

We finally arrived at Hokitika, small town on the West coast of South Island, where we could walk around easily.

Our hotel was closed enough to the beach that we decided to wake up early and shoot the sunrise!

Behind the scene:

Our friend Kea!!!

On our way to the next town, Hokitika, we made a quick stop at the Otira Viaduct Lookout. A couple of birds were lurking in the parking lot.

The Kea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kea

The kea (/ˈkiːə/; Māori: [kɛ.a]; Nestor notabilis) is a species of large parrot in the family Nestoridae[2] found in the forested and alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand. About 48 cm (19 in) long, it is mostly olive-green with a brilliant orange under its wings and has a large, narrow, curved, grey-brown upper beak. The kea is the world's only alpine parrot.

Devils Punchbowl Walking Track

When headed to the walk, it was still raining, but it did not stop us from climbing those stairs in order to see the waterfall…

Directions were clear…
